Challenge

Our client, a large supermarket chain, needed a refrigeration replacement in their local branch in Willerby, Hull. On top of this, AB Group were also asked to update the branding throughout the store so that the branding was up to the standards seen in their stores nationwide.

Solution

This was a large project and there were lots of elements that were required to give this store a modernised lift. The work completed included: branding throughout the store and in the kiosk, as well as gondola replacement to the in-store bakery and news and magazines stands. We replaced the damaged terrazzo flooring and decorated the sales floor, as well as the back of house areas. We replaced all sales floor refrigeration cabinets and installed a new refrigeration plant and A/C unit. We then resprayed the checkouts and shop front entrance door, shutters and frames, and finally finished with a full store clean.

During the refrigeration replacement, we found that the cabinets were too big to pass through the entrance door. To solve this issue, we had to remove and then reinstate the entrance door.

Outcome and benefits

The local Willerby branch is now modernised and up to date for both customers and staff alike, with a fully refitted refrigeration system. With the rebrand rolling out nationwide, this store is now unified with the brand as a whole. Carried out to the highest of standards, this refrigeration replacement and rebranding project was carried out quickly and efficiently, with little disruption to customers.

Professional insight

When running a big refit project like this in a retail store, the roll out has to happen more or less overnight. AB Group is experienced carrying out a number of rebrands and refrigeration replacements in similar projects and is used to implementing such work for individual stores, making sure all contractors and materials are on-site when they should be to enable a smooth workflow, and ensuring a high standard of work and finish is achieved on time and on budget.
